Bookboard is a killer team with decades of experience shipping great products, now building consumer-oriented tablet software. We’re passionate about software that improves our real lives. Our mission is to harness the magnetic attraction kids have to tablets in order to enrich meaningful connections between family members.
We’re looking for an experienced full-time front-end developer, who’s had at least one great product cycle under his or her belt – someone who enjoys working with design teams and other developers in order to drive the invention of product features from brainstorming all the way through wireframes, specs, architecture, implementation, and testing. A passion for learning new technology platforms, creating thoughtfully-designed user experiences, and a strong point of view are required; knowledge of the latest web and mobile technology stacks is highly desirable. We’re epic learners and mentors at Bookboard, and we value professional development and team culture as much as we do our customers, which is a lot!
Drive front-end feature development for tablets in both HTML5 and native iOS.
Learning on the job is more important here than specific experience – the landscape is so new that you’ll constantly be exploring new approaches and picking up new techniques. For a front-end developer looking to get deeper into iOS and HTML5, this is a great opportunity.
Act as technical lead and mentor.
We’re looking for natural leaders who can blaze trails both architecturally and organizationally. Bringing new team members on board and up to speed will be key to our success, and we’ll look to you for help.
Become familiar with our back-end API platform, adding features there as well.
As a modern startup, we’re using the latest in cloud operations and services to power our product. You should be comfortable consuming JSON-based services, and we’d love for you to create new ones via our Rails back-end. We believe in full-stack development and will mentor new team members who want to learn.
- 5+ years of front-end product development.
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Shipper. You need to be comfortable building features from planning to testing.
- Forget specific languages – willing to learn and choose the best platforms for our goals.
